Microsoft’s GodMode: A Control Panel with no limits

Jan 06
2010

This is a very short but very handy little tip. Microsoft’s GodMode is basically a control panel containing everything that you can play around with, so it in essence it is a Control Panel with more options and abilities. This works with Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Not THAT exciting enough to be called GodMode but…here we go.

1. Create a New Folder anywhere on you PC.
2. Rename the folder to the following (you can copy and paste this):

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

3. The icon should change and the name of the folder should automatically be renamed to “GodMode.”
4. That’s it! You got a extended control panel where ever you want.

This can be useful if you are performing maintenance and you want to keep track of the restart time. If you find that it takes unusually long to restart your PC check out our quick tips on boosting performance here or here. I have also taken a quick video of the tool at work on my laptop. The download link for the tool is below the video (the file is less than 1 kilobyte). Neither I, nor did any other members of Hexryde create this script, the credit goes to it’s rightful owner.
